Ballistic Broccoli

 Broccoli

Hi Bloggers, This week in reading we have been learning about poems. For inspiration we watched and read some of Michael Rosens poems that he has written. One of his poems was called Broccoli which was the one that i chose to read. Our goal was: visualise using all of the senses, and talk about how this enriches meaning. The idea of it is to read one of his poems and visualise what you thought it might have looked like. This was my visualisation of what the poem looked like!

Did you Know that's where Broccoli comes from?

Thanks for looking at my picture for the poem: Broccoli!

The Mysterious Umbrella

Hi bloggers,

This week in writing Term 3 Week 2 we writ a story based on a video called the Umbrella. It Is about a yellow umbrella the got stolen at the end.We had to included a simile  Here is my writing to show you what I mean.

Umbrella

One foggy dawn, while the dew fell upon the leaves, the door to Miss Elm’s Home For Children sprang open with a bang! The girl with the stunning, sunshine yellow umbrella tiptoed reluctantly into the orphanage, quickly finding a safe home for her umbrella. And not wanting to be seen Boris crisply whipped his head round the door frame so he was hidden from view. Standing off to the side the little girl watched the glorious scene as the children searched in the box for her lost treasures. The girl smiled as she watched the young boy race as fast as a shooting star. Her Smile disappeared abruptly as she looked back at the umbrella stand and all she saw were puddles. Her beloved Umbrella had mysteriously disappeared.

Can you spot my simllie?

Thank you for reading my writing hope you like it.

My Trip Recount

On Thursday in week 3 of school tumu hub went on a trip to margaret mahy. We also went to victoria square, rode a waka and saw the Māori mats. We went there to learn about the Māori culture for our PBL. The first thing Rata did was go to Victoria Square with Mrs Brown. She taught us about king captain cook. He was the first one to find New Zealand and the first person to make the New Zealand map. Next we went to Margaret Mahy with Mrs Carney and we learnt about the story along the playground. Then we went to feed the tuna and see the mats.

My favourite part of the trip was feeding the tuna. We fed them big gooey pieces of cat food and they came to the top of the dirty water to eat the food. Tuna is another word for eals and they are very skinny sea animals.

Something I learnt was how to use a paddle for the waka. The leaders yelled commands for us to do. We had to put our paddle up, down, 45 degrees, angle and start paddling. Francesca was my buddy for the aka because it had to have 2 on one part otherwise the boat balance would be unbalanced.

The thing I found the most interesting was the story around margaret mahy playground. I think the artists have put a lot of effort into the playground. It has a beautiful song around as well. They imbebed the carvings into the concrete. Another interesting thing was how the eels swim all the way down to tonga  to have there babies.

This trip has helped me with my PBL because now when I have to write about my trip and what i learnt I will now be able to tell them everything about the trip. I has also helped me to work together in a team more.

How was your trip when you went to Margaret Mahy playground?

Holy Week

 Hi,

In week 9 we learnt about Holy Week. Holy Week is the week coming up to Easter. We celebrate Jesus's last week before he dies on the cross. The days in Holy Heek is Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday.

Holy week is the end of Lent. Lent has 40 days and we celebrate coming up to Easter when Jesus dies. The colour purple is the colour of Lent it represents the three meanings of purple in Lent. The first one is royalty of Christ, the next one is his passion and death for our sins and the last one is the coming of spring.

Palm Sunday Starts Holy Week and Easter Sunday finishes Holy Week.

What other things do you know about Holy Week?

Have a look at my slide show to learn more about Holy Week.

Did you learn something from my slide? If you did tell me what you learnt in the comments.
